You can read all our Rosh Hashana 2012 sermons and divrei Torah, and share your comments here.

Location: Trinity/St Paul Centre for Faith, Justice and The Arts, 427 Bloor Street West (just west of Spadina.) We are fortunate to be able to hold our inaugural High Holiday services in a place that has been the home for social justice, arts, and community-minded organizations in Toronto for several decades; a place that is fully wheel-chair accessible, easily accessible by public transit (take the subway to Spadina Station, walk one block west and you are there; there is a Green P at 4 Spadina Rd, an underground parking at 360 Bloor Street on Walmer Rd, as well as metered street parking on Spadina and on Bloor plus side-street parking); a place that is historic, and a place that is in the hub of all things downtown.

Service Times: All service times are listed on your tickets. Erev Yom Kippur (Kol Nidre) on Sept. 25 at 6:45 PM, morning (9:30 am) and evening services (5 pm till shofar at 8:20 PM) on Yom Kippur Sept. 26. Family services/activities on Yom Kippur morning are at 11 am. Please note there is no Family Service for Kol Nidre or Neilah but there IS childcare.

Prayerbooks: Each participant brings their own prayerbook; our services do not have any extra or loaner prayerbooks. We use the same prayerbook each year so once you obtain it you can use it again: Gates of Repentance (CCAR Press). To have a participatory, communal experience we ask that each person have a copy of that prayerbook so that no one feels like an outsider or a “spectator.” We can provide a prayerbook for you at a cost of $28 including tax. Please note that we do not sell or lend prayerbooks at the service.

Childcare and Family Services: Kids are welcome to come in and out of services as they wish. We offer a professionally staffed childcare for toddlers, plus a professionally staffed “quiet activities” room for post-toddlers on First Day Rosh Hashana, Second Day Rosh Hashana, Yom Kippur morning and Yom Kippur Afternoon/Neilah (closing services.) We have a small selection of books and non-electric, non-battery toys/games and encourage you to bring your favourites, too; little ones are in a fully stocked nursery. On Yom Kippur morning we offer a separate family service at 11 am. You can participate in the main service till 11, or in childcare till 11, or just come at 11! The family service ends before the morning Yizkor service but childcare is available until after Yizkor. All children, even toddlers, must have a ticket.

Food!: We have a food drive on Yom Kippur to benefit the local food bank and ask that you bring a can or box of healthy, non perishable food to those services.

This year we will be offering a vegetarian communal pot-luck break-the-fast after Yom Kippur closing Neilah services at about 8:30 PM. We warmly welcome you and your family to participate. Click here to register.
