City Shul offers adult learning opportunities for all levels, from a Basic Judaism class to advanced studies. Shabbat evenings and mornings include Torah study. We also have adult programming that stimulates intellectually and builds social connections. and We encourage your ideas for adult learning and programming. Adult Education Classes

Classes meet at City Shul, 300 Bloor Street West 
Basic Judaism: Taught by Nadia Moldaver, City Shul’s Director of Jewish Learning.
Kick-start a Jewish journey, go over what you’ve forgotten, or just come and learn with no agenda. Holidays, life cycle, and basic Jewish philosophy. Six Wednesday nights Oct 17, 24, 31, Nov 7, 14 and 21, 7 to 8:45  -Members $75, non-members $125. Register here.

Torah Study: A How-To Manual taught by Baruch Sienna, Jewish Educator.

This class will provide individuals who are already familiar with the basics of Judaism new skills in approaching classical Jewish texts. Participants will learn how to ask questions, find answers, explore multiple translations, and navigate the world of Midrash. The final session will guide students in writing a short d’var Torah that will be shared with the group. Five Monday nights: Oct 1, 15, 22, 29, Nov 5, 7:30 to 9. Members $50, non-members $100. Text Two Ways, team-taught by Rabbi Goldstein and Prof. Robert Gibbs, Professor of Philosophy at U of T.

We'll take four challenging and fascinating Biblical portions, analyze them through the lenses of traditional commentary and Jewish philosophy, and then invite participants to wrestle with them too. Men’s Lunchtime Chavurah (Friendship Group)

Meeting once a month, times and places to be determined, the goal of the group is to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for open discussion as well as foster new friendships among men who are City Shul members. Conversations will range from current events to life issues, including lots of thought and lots of laughter. Women's Chavurah

A once a month Friday night Shabbat dinner in member's homes for City Shul women to foster new friendshipsin a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and discuss issues of special relevance and interest to women. Always accepting new participants! Contact Rivka.

La'asot Chayim

A group for Jews in their 20s and 30s to come together to actively engage in building community and exploring what it means to be a Jew in today's world. Join our FB page!
