Health and safety and workplace violence and harassment policy

City Shul is committed to providing a healthy work environment in which all workers are safe and treated with respect and dignity. Protection of workers from injury or occupational disease is a major continuing objective.

Workplace violence or harassment or conduct endangering worker health or safety will
not be tolerated from any person in the workplace including congregants and guests.

There is a health and safety and workplace violence and harassment program that implements this policy. It includes measures and procedures to protect the health and safety of workers, to protect workers from workplace violence and harassment, a means of summoning immediate assistance with respect to workplace violence and a process for workers to report incidents or raise concerns.

City Shul will ensure this policy and the supporting program are implemented and maintained. All workers and supervisors will receive appropriate information and instruction on the contents of the policy and program. Supervisors will be held accountable for the health and safety of workers under their supervision.

Every worker must protect their own health and safety by working in compliance with the law and with safe work practices and procedures established by the employer, including this policy and the supporting program. Workers will receive information, training and competent supervision in their specific work tasks to protect their health and safety. All workers are encouraged to raise any concerns about health and safety or workplace violence or harassment and to report any incidents or threats.

Management pledges to investigate and deal with all incidents and complaints in a fair, respectful and timely manner, respecting the privacy of all concerned as much as possible.

Workers are not to be penalized or disciplined for reporting an incident or for participating in an investigation.

If a worker needs further assistance, they may contact their direct supervisor, the school health and safety representative, the Leadership Team HR liaison, or the Chair of the Leadership Team.
