HH FAQ - 2025

Are tickets required for services?

There will not be any paper tickets for Rosh Hashanah or Yom Kippur.

For Kol Nidre, a ticket will be required. Tickets will be mailed out to members and those who buy High Holiday tickets by Thursday, September 11th. After this date, tickets will be available to pick up at Met United, immediately before the Kol Nidre Service begins.

All members and non-member ticket holders will be on a list that will be checked at the door. For security reasons, we cannot let anyone in who is not on our list.

Do I need my own prayer book?

For the High Holidays, we use Gates of Repentance, CCAR Press. To create an inclusive experience, each adult should have a copy of the prayer book, including those who are watching the service on our live stream.

This is the Prayer Book that we use exclusively for High Holiday services, and a pdf of this book is not available. If you have a copy of this book from past City Shul High Holiday services, you do not need to purchase a copy. 

Please note that we do not provide prayer books and there are no loaners or book sales at services.  Please note that this book is "out of print", so we are able to sell you used books in excellent condition at a lower price.

Please bring your book to every High Holiday Service, starting with Selichot on Saturday, September 13 .

Copies of this book can be purchased HERE for $20 each. If you are purchasing tickets for the High Holidays, you can purchase your prayer books directly on the form.

Your book will be ready for you to pick up when you arrive at your first service.

New for 2025 - Shofarpalooza Tickets for Non-Members

Shofarpalooza is City Shul's unique service for the second day of Rosh Hashana. 

This outdoor service, led by Rabbi Stephanie Crawley and Hazzanit Tara Abrams, will also include music from our Shira Harmony Group and the Kishke Klezmer Band.

Please note that this is limited to 40 tickets, on a first come, first serve basis.

Live-Stream Links

Rosh Hashanah Day 1, Kol Nidre and Yom Kippur services will be updated.

Rosh Hashanah ticket buyers will receive the live-stream link a few days in advance.

Yom Kippur ticket buyers will receive the live-stream links a few days in advance.

Join us for Erev Rosh Hashanah dinner with followed by a service led by Hazzanit Tara Abrams.

Dinner will be served buffet style - $34pp for members, $38pp for non-members. Kids meals (10 and under) are $18pp.  This includes challah, a main, salad, dessert, and drink.

 Is there security?

City Shul's In-House Security Committee has increased security at upcoming services. There is both visible and invisible security and City Shul is well-protected. For security reasons, we do not disclose all of our security techniques but in terms of your experience, at least one professional uniformed security guard will be present and all bags will be checked.  

You can feel safe focusing on prayer, but if you do see something that concerns you, please say something and do something, such as immediately notifying an usher or volunteer.

We ask you to kindly refrain from bringing large backpacks or large bags. All bags will be checked.

This year, City Shul Teens will be collecting toiletry items for Ve'ahavta. Please check the poster below for suggestions. If possible, please put any liquid items in a sealed "ziploc-style" bag to avoid leakage.

Volunteer needed - are you able to take these items, which will be in 6 large Rubbermaid containers, from Met United at the end of Yom Kippur Services on Saturday, October 12 and deliver them to Ve'ahavta during the week? Please contact Barb in the office HERE for more details.
